Newburgh Man Behind Bars After Drug Bust

A multi-agency law enforcement narcotics investigation into drug trafficking led to the apprehension of a Hudson Valley man who was busted with cocaine, heroin and crack cocaine.

Members of the New York State Police Troop F Community Narcotics Enforcement Team, State Police troopers, and officers from the Newburgh Police Department executed a search warrant in at a South Williams Street residence in Newburgh on Tuesday, which led to the arrest of 33-year-old Sheldon Tompson, who is facing a series of drug charges.

When executing the warrant, police seized approximately 16 grams of crack-cocaine, 17 grams of powder cocaine, five grams of heroin and eight ounces of marijuana.

Tompson was arrested and charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and one count of fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, all felonies. He was also charged with counts of criminal use of drug paraphernalia and one count of criminal possession of marijuana, misdemeanors.

Following arraignment, Tompson was remanded into the custody of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or secured bond. He is due back in court to answer the charges at a later date.
